The Tata Group is planning to invest Rs 2 billion and offer 155 new jobs for a semiconductor testing and packing unit at Narasapura in Kolar district, Karnataka.

With Wistron’s iPhone manufacturing unit in Kolar being taken over by the Tata Group, it is expected to set up an assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) plant in Kolar. The planned investment by Tata for its semiconductor unit is in sync with the government of Karnataka’s initiatives to shore up industrial development in the state.

The state-level single-window clearance committee (SLSWCC) has approved 91 industrial investment proposals totalling Rs 76.6 billion. These proposals have the potential to create 18,147 jobs, and Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Private Limited (TSAATPL) is one of them.
