Tata Communications expects its media content transcoding and delivery service business to generate revenue worth Rs 4 billion over the next five years.

The company forayed in to the media content transcoding and delivery service business six months ago. As part of the business, currently, Tata Communications converts video content into digital form, stores it in data centre and provides access to this content only to authorised individuals only on internet along with additional softwares to facilitate workflow in media houses.

The company has already partnered with Viacom18 and is delivering broadcast service for the media group through cloud. Tata Communications is also in talks with about three to four other media houses in India for offering similar services to them.
