
Tata Communications has reported a 15.23 per cent increase in its net profits from Rs 804.9 million for the quarter ended September 2013 to Rs 927.5 million for the quarter ended September 2014. The revenues grew by 2.40 per cent from Rs 49.52 billion in July-September 2013 to Rs 50.71 billion in July- September 2014. The surge in profits was mainly due to the fourfold increase in other income from Rs 0.39 billion to Rs 1.63 billion for the period under review.
The earnings before other income, finance costs and exceptional items declined from Rs 2.93 billion for the quarter ended September 2013 to Rs 2.35 billion for the quarter ended September 2014.
With regards to various business segments, the company posted an increase in revenues for data and managed services along with its operations in South Africa. For the quarter ended September 2014, the revenues from data and managed services stood at Rs 22.36 billion while the South African business? revenues were Rs6.12 billion. However, Tata Communications experienced a decline in revenues in its voice solutions business from RS 23.91 billion in July-September 2013 to Rs 23.10 billion in July-September 2014.
