Putting Formula One Management at the heart of the action – Thousands of miles from the race

?It?s hard to beat the atmosphere of a Grand Prix circuit on the race day, but exciting as it is for the fans to be here it is not essential for a full broadcasting team, not when there’s a remote operation centre like this one – Formula One technical headquarters in the UK. On race days this innovation from Formula One Management enabled by Tata Communications makes it possible to produce aspects of broadcasters? needs just as effectively as if they’re sitting at trackside. Now in their third year of working together, by the end of the 2014 season, Tata Communications will have provided Formula One Management with seamless connectivity for no fewer than fifty eight Grand Prix, helping to drive innovation in the way the sport is filmed, viewed and enjoyed worldwide.? says James Allen, Commentator, Formula 1.

John Morrison, Chief Technical Officer, Formula One Management says, ?For example we have established this remote operation centre in Biggin Hill which gives us the opportunity to migrate certain activities from the circuit based broadcasts centre, allowing us the opportunity to reduce the pressure on traveling staff numbers and freight. We are using Tata Communications? superior connectivity in order to deliver two multi-view video feeds to this remote operation centre. This gives operators here the ability to view source video material on program outputs from the circuit. We have also used our vast data path in order to control the tracks side robotic camera and this year we intend to migrate the team radio operation, the daily news edits on the remote producer?s position into this centre. We also provide several of the website functions here. These include digital stills, video edits and data processing. All of this is done in real time. Later this year, we will be establishing a return video path providing a view of active age in the remote operation centre for the circuit.?

The reliable connectivity and continuous support from the Tata Communications service team has made it possible to further our business goal transferring media content from race locations worldwide.

?But what does this latest innovation prove? The communication solutions they provide can make a real difference in performance giving the edge to compete on a global platform and it’s clear that the differentiation on account management and services can translate into real value for Formula One?, says James Allen.

Formula One racing moves around the world almost weekly to some of the most distant and demanding locations. In one season the Tata Communications team covers over 62,000 miles to ensure there’s a data centre up and running at each circuit in just two days and dismantled within three hours of the checkered flag coming down.

?So what does this mean for you? Well it means you can collaborate more effectively, be more productive, more flexible and more scalable. You can operate everywhere in the world from anywhere in the world and have seamless 24/7 accessibility to all data for all departments and functions.

And you can start to operate more successfully, more quickly and in more markets. Tata Communications is giving Formula One Management the ?speed to lead?. Now they are ready to do the same for you.
