Tata Communications has invested in Seaborn Networks, the developer and operator of the express submarine cable between US and Brazil. According to the telecom operator, the investment is part of Tata Communications? strategy to enhance its offerings in the Latin American market.

The investment, on part of Tata Communications, has been made in Seabras-1 system. Seabras-1 is part of Seaborn Networks and will be the first ever direct optic fibre cable network between commercial and financial centres of Brazil and US on completion. The cable network will also have a branch landing in Fortaleza, Brazil.

At present, Tata Communications owns and operates a fibre network measuring 240,000 km. The company is of the view that the new capacity will add to its existing cable route.
