
Tata Communications has signed an agreement with Qatar Telecom for a new undersea cable network, TGN Gulf, which will connect a number of regional operators in the Gulf region with India. The total length of the cable system within the Gulf region will be 4,469 km, extending from Mumbai to Oman and on to Kuwait, and will connect Tata Communications’ global cable and backhaul network.
In addition to Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it will also be connected to the TGN Gulf Cable in the initial phase of the two-year project. Subsequently, in the second phase, other Gulf countries will be conjoined.
