Tata Communications has partnered with China Telecom to build the 500 km long fibre optic India-China Terrestrial Cable network, which will provide a high speed connectivity path between the two countries. The network will provide a much-needed diversity from the subsea cable systems and will avoid the straits of Malacca and earthquake-prone areas around Taiwan. Prior to this, Tata Communications signed an agreement with Qatar Telecom for a new undersea cable network that would connect India with a number of regional operators in the Gulf region.
