Tamil Nadu state cabinet is believed to have cleared 34 industrial projects entailing investments of Rs 522.57 billion that includes component manufacturers for Apple such as Tata Electronics, Pegatron Corporation, Taiwan, and Luxshare of Taiwan. With this, the state set to become the new hub for manufacturing Apple products for the global market.
The investments will result in employment generation for around 94,000 people in the state.
While Tata Electronics is expected to invest around Rs 57.63 billion for manufacturing mobile phone components, Pegatron will invest Rs 11 billion in the first phase of its proposed unit to make mobile phones in Mahindra World City in Chengalpet district.
