As per recent government data presented in the Lok Sabha, Tamil Nadu had registered the maximum number of complaints regarding call drops and poor network coverage in 2019. These complaints were reported through the Centralised Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) to the Department of Telecommunications.
As per the data, telecom complaints in Tamil Nadu increased by 110 since 2018 to reach 183 in 2019, constituting 15 per cent of the total complaints in the country during 2019.
Further, until August 2020, TRAI had already received 17 complaints over call drops in Chennai and Tamil Nadu telecom circles. In comparison, TRAI had received 18 such complaints in totality from subscribers in the two circles during 2018.
