Tamil Nadu government has introduced three new IT policies focussed on artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and cybersecurity. Through these policies, the government aims to address the emerging growth areas in IT industry and e-governance.

The policy on artificial intelligence focusses on providing a framework for inclusive, safe and ethical use of AI in the government domain and to build fairness, equity, transparency and trust in AI assisted decision making systems.

Meanwhile, blockchain focussed policy aims at bringing transparency and efficiency to government processes.

Likewise, the policy on cybersecurity has being brought in with the purpose of defining the overall ambit of the cybersecurity-related agencies in the state. To this end, the government has formed the Security Architecture Framework of Tamil Nadu. This policy was drafted by ELCOT in association with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
