Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom is planning to purchase about 3,000 femtocell base stations. Four international telecom vendors ?? NSN, Alcatel-Lucent, Samsung Electronics and NEC ?? have reportedly shown interest in participating in the bidding process.

The value of the contract is likely to be around $3.3 million. On account of the various testing and verification processes involved, Chunghwa Telecom is expected to announce the winner of the bidding by September 2008.
