Taiwan-based telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom has contracted Ericsson to supply its optical multi-service (OMS) solution for high capacity broadband services for both telephony (through time division multiplexing) and IP (Ethernet) traffic. According to the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will also be responsible for professional services including network deployment, learning services and support. Chunghwa expects that its 30 Mbps broadband network will cover 80 per cent of Taiwan by 2011.
