Taiwan-based technology company, Foxconn, has started manufacturing and shipping smartphones for China’s Xiaomi and US brand InFocus at its new plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

The company intends to setup 10 to 12 such manufacturing facilities in India by 2020. It plans to manufacture mobile handsets, tablets, TVs, electronic products, batteries and key electronic components, routers, set-top boxes and printers, among other products, in India. 

It also plans to set up data centres and incubators in cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The company is looking to invest in Indian Internet startups, small-medium enterprises and handset makers as well.
