The Tower & Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA) has requested the ministry of power to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and approve new connections on a priority basis for telecom sites, which are critical for ensuring continued operation of telecom services.

This request has been made keeping in mind the nationwide lockdown announced by the government to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

To this end, TAIPA has sought necessary support from various state electricity distribution and has requested for uninterrupted power supply for telecom towers.

Further, TAIPA has also asked the department not to take a coercive action such as disconnection, and waive penalty during the lockdown period.
