The Ministry of Communications has granted Syed Tausif Abbas, senior deputy director general, Telecommunication Engineering Centre, as additional charge for interim chairman and managing director (MD) of Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) for a three-month period, from January 27, 2026, to April 26, 2026.
The ministry said the appointment is subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). It added that Abbas will not receive any additional remuneration while holding the additional charge.
Abbas is a 1989-batch Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS) officer and has earlier served as principal advisor at the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
