Pune-based tablet manufacturer Swipe Telecom has partnered with mobile phone and tablet retailer UniverCell Telecommunications to mark its foray into the south Indian market. To this end, Swipe has launched Swipe 3D Life Plus and Swipe MTV Series comprising MTV Slash 2, MTV Slash 3G and MTV Slash 4X, which will be available exclusively at UniverCell stores across south India. These products range from Rs 4,200 to Rs 14,000 and Swipe expects to sell about 20,000 pieces a month across south India.

The Kalari Capital-backed company reported a turnover of Rs 1 billion in 2013-14 and is targeting Rs 3 billion of revenues in 2014-15. As per the company, it has a good presence in northern and western markets of India. It has a market share of 8.7 per cent by volumes in the tablet market in India and has sold 300,000 units since June 2012 primarily to college-goers and young working professionals.

The company has offices in India and in the US. It designs its products at its centres in Pune and Sacramento in the US while assembling is done in Shenzhen, China.
