The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), say news reports.
This is on grounds of a petition seeking the court’s directions to ensure that telecom operators are following the norms for stringent verification of a consumers’ identity before providing mobile connections.
Meanwhile, the court has asked TRAI to respond on whether the norms are adequate for operators to ensure proper verification of consumers.
The case is set to be heard after a fortnight.
