The Supreme Court has given the government the green signal to sell a part of the 774 acres of land belonging to Tata Communications (formerly VSNL). A bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma rejected the plea of the original land owners.

The owners had requested the court to stop the government from selling the land to a third party. This was until the Bombay High Court took a decision on the dispute, regarding compensation for the land.

According to them, they still legally owned the land, as the government had failed to produce any documents pertaining to the acquisition of the land.
