The Supreme Court has granted bail to Sanjay Chandra, managing director, Unitech Wireless; Vinod Goenka, director, Swan Telecom and three Reliance Communications (RCOM) executives.
The verdict was given by Justice H.L. Dattu, who had heard their arguments, along with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)?s arguments opposing the bail requests.
The five individuals had approached the Supreme Court, challenging the order of the Delhi high court denying them bail in the case.
The CBI, however, had opposed their bail requests. In its affidavit, the agency had said that the accused were likely to tamper with the evidence and influence witnesses in the 2G issue, if granted bail.
