As head of digital and communication solutions at Orange Business APAC, Sunil Joshi is responsible for various business lines such as connectivity, voice, collaboration-UCC/CC, CPaaS, cloud, cyberdefence, IoT service and solution sales across Orange Business Asia-Pacific markets, including China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, India, AJK (ASEAN, Japan, Korea), and Australia and New Zealand.
Working closely with APAC and global customers to help them solve their business problems and support the digital transformation of their businesses, Joshi also focuses on breaking down internal silos, developing people and improving organisational processes.
Joshi has held senior leadership positions in the IT and telecommunication industry, such as a country client manager at IBM India; head of business markets at TelstraClear, New Zealand; and president, global enterprise segment at Tata Communications, Singapore. He was also the CEO and MD of a subsidiary of Tata Communications, where he led the turnaround of the company from a lossmaking to a profitable business in three years. This international exposure has contributed richly to deepening his appreciation of diverse cultures.
Coming from a successful tenure at Servicenow Singapore, he joined Orange Business in mid-2021 to help drive the transformation of the company from a traditional telco to a digital services integration business. “The unmatched broad portfolio of Orange Business includes the Evolution Platform, a leading edge, game-changing global platform with multi-cloud orchestration and unmatched security solutions; collaboration; global voice; smart connected products; GenAI; digital services and secure infrastructure. These are just some of the solutions we deploy for our regional and global customers,” he notes.
Joshi sees GenAI as the foremost disruptive trend, and is focused on its responsible, ethical and trusted use. He identifies digital trust for customers as another important trend, given the rise of data sovereignty, compliance regulations and current geopolitical tensions. He also views the criticality of ubiquitous next-gen connectivity, with increased robustness, agility, resilience, enhanced security and cloud services as critical infrastructure, essential for positioning AI/GenAI initiatives and business-as-usual operations customers in order to help them manoeuvre their businesses in today’s economic environment.
He has a hands-on, pragmatic style of working, balanced with an understanding of the intricacies surrounding change management and complex organisational processes.
