Offering an open and transparent work culture is what keeps every member of Dax Networks, a company providing networking infrastructure to the communication industry, happy and gives Sudha Jagadish a great deal of satisfaction.

For Jagadish, chief executive officer (CEO) of Dax Networks, work is not just an occupation but a passion. With 18 years of experience holding several senior positions in the company, she has contributed immensely in steering the company to greater heights.
?The next big challenge before us is to attain the first or second position in this field”, she says. As CEO, she is responsible for the overall operations of the company. This includes procurement, logistics, support, inventory and supply chain management-centric activities.
“Mentoring people is the most important task for me,” she says. In this regard, her extensive work experience within the company has helped her tide over work-related bottlenecks.
Jagadish started her career at Dax as a systems associate and then climbed up the corporate ladder. She handled several challenges in various departments including sales, purchase, credit control and HR. She recalls her early days in the company as among her most interesting. “They were exciting days. Back then, everything was very new and fresh and each day brought with it new lessons and challenges. Indeed, those were the ‘good old days’, as I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge that helped me grow,” she says.
What made it all the more exciting was the fact that the telecom and IT industries were still at a nascent stage. ?These fields were just emerging then, and the number of women in these fields was almost negligible. So, the idea of jumping into untested waters was in itself appealing”, she says.

“It helped that I was not in the sales function, but was concentrating on the software side of things. Of course, that had its own challenges but I guess I was lucky and the organisation’s open culture helped me adjust very well.”

At the end of a day spent coping with the many challenges associated with the rapidly growing telecom sector in India, Jagadish unwinds by spending time with her family, reading and shopping.
Like other professionals, maintaining a work-life balance is a tightrope walk for Jagadish. She elaborates: ?Striking the right note between work and one’s personal life is tough, but I feel that one must use the time one gets in an efficient manner. I pack in 12 hours of work on a daily basis but have never felt that I don’t spend enough time with my near and dear ones. It is not the number of hours one spends but the quality of that time.”
