According to the secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), more coordinated action is required to spur 5G adoption across sectors, even as the network rollout has progressed rapidly.
The minister noted that global telecom operators also face challenges in driving uptake of 5G-based services, with most current use cases largely leveraging only the high-speed aspect of the new generation technology.
Additionally, as per the minister, the 5G test labs have already generated 130 research publications and developed more than 95 innovative 5G solutions, as of September 2025.
