Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has asked the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to request the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to allot an additional 1.25 Mhz spectrum to it in six circles.

In response, TDSAT has issued a notice to DoT asking it to reply within three weeks.

The tribunal has also asked SSTL to file a rejoinder a week thereafter. It has listed the matter for next hearing on December 12.

As per the spectrum allocation policy, SSTL was initially alloted 2.5 Mhz start up spectrum and is now entitled to an additional tranche of spectrum, having met the subscriber-linked criteria.

SSTL had applied for additional spectrum in six circles including Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in January, 2011.

According to the company, its application has been pending with DoT since then. It submitted that it has already fulfilled the eligibility criteria, having reached 8,00,000 subscribers.
