Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has achieved break-even at the operating level in six out of its nine operational circles. According to the company, this was achieved by the growing share of non-voice revenues and data services in these markets.

The company has attained positive operational income before depreciation and amortisation in Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Kolkata, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Karnataka circles. It is also working towards achieving the same for Uttar Pradesh (West), Gujarat and Kerala circles. According to the company, a key driver of SSTL’s improving financials was the growing geographical coverage of its data services that now covers 850 towns across its nine circle footprint.

The company’s blended average revenue per user (ARPU) has increased by over 20 per cent from Rs 107 in March 2014 to Rs 127 in March 2015. Meanwhile, over the past five quarters, the contribution of non-voice revenues to SSTL’s overall quarterly revenue increased from 35 per cent to 51 per cent in the quarter ended March 2014.
