Sprint, the third largest US mobile phone operator, has announced plans to test Wi-Max broadband wireless technology as part of a partnership agreement with Motorola, the US telecom equipment and handset maker. Wi-Max technology is based on the emerging 802.16e standard backed by US chip maker Intel and a large group of equipment makers and carriers including both Motorola and Sprint.
