Spanco Telesystems and Solutions, TVS Interconnect Systems (a TVS group firm) and Acme Tele Power have emerged as the frontrunners for BSNL’s Rs 300 billion infrastructure contract. Spanco has emerged as the lowest bidder for the west zone, TVS for the south zone, and Acme Tele Power for the north and east zones for the passive cellular infrastructure (tower) contract. While network services company GTL has emerged as the second lowest bidder in the west and north zones, and the third lowest bidder in the east zone, power company KEC is believed to be the second lowest bidder in the west zone. According to the terms of the contract, 50 per cent of the total contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder, while the remaining 50 per cent will be split between the second and third lowest bidders.
