
Sony Ericsson’s profit has more than doubled in the second quarter of the current year because of the success of its high-end phones and growth in the global handset market. Pre-tax income rose from Euro 87 million to Euro 211 million, while sales increased 41 per cent to Euro 2.27 billion. The company’s net income rose from Euro 75 million to Euro 143 million. The London-based firm’s market share increased as it shipped several new models of its successful Walkman branded music phone as well as its first Cyber-shot branded 3.2 megapixel cameraphone.
