
Howard Stringer, chairman, Sony plans to quit the company. He is expected to resign from his position at the company?s annual shareholder meeting to be held in June 2013.
Prior to his current role, Stringer served as Sony?s chief executive officer from June 2005 to April 1, 2012. A former journalist with the US-based broadcaster CBS, Stringer joined the organisation in May 1997 as president, Sony Corporation of America). Subsequently, he was appointed as the company?s group executive officer in May 1998.
Since 2005, Stringer has been overseeing the entire businesses of Sony, including its media and electronics subsidiaries like the Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Electronics, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Financial Holdings.
