Singapore-based Temasek has been granted an option to indirectly acquire 4.99 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel. According to sources, the stake is worth about $2 billion. Under the agreement, if Temasek chooses to exit, it will be bound to sell these shares to either Bharti Enterprises or Singapore Telecom, or both. Temasek cannot sell the stake to any third party. SingTel and Bharti Enterprises own 30.5 per cent and 45 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel respectively.
