Sify Infinit Spaces Limited has announced that the first artificial intelligence (AI)-hub data centre at Lucknow is now ready for business. The ground-breaking ceremony for this new facility was done by the Manoj Kumar Singh IAS, chief secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, on February 23, 2025. The facility will be built in four phases with phase one becoming operational in June 2025.

The data centre, in the vicinity of the major multinational corporations (MNCs) operating out of the NCR and Lucknow belt will help reduce the latency time and will be a key operational asset for enterprises. The facility is situated in the HCL IT city campus on Sultanpur Road, Lucknow, uses edge caching hardware and software-based components that store data in order to increase computing response time.

The ceremony was presided over by Raju Vegesna, chairman, Sify Technologies Limited, and had senior officials in attendance.

Commenting on the announcement, Manoj Kumar Singh IAS, said, “The prime minister’s vision is to see India emerge as an AI destination for the world. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Yogi Adityanathji, chief minister, Uttar Pradesh has embarked on a mission of building an AI ecosystem by utilising the talent hubs of IIT Kanpur, IIM Lucknow, IITBHU and IIIT Allahabad. The government is building an AI City in Lucknow and the overall stable investment environment aligns perfectly with the vision of Government in realising Uttar Pradesh’s AI potential . Sify’s expansion into Lucknow through this AI hub Edge Data Centre is a key milestone in realising this vision”

Meanwhile, Raju Vegesna, said, “We are pleased to enable Lucknow to join the list of AI-ready cities. This facility is in line with our aggressive investment goals and is also a testament to the state government ambition of making Uttar Pradesh the data centre destination for North India.
