At a recently held virtual summit, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that security will be a key concern in 5G deployments and India is yet to take a final decision over whether or not to allow Chinese companies to participate in the 5G network rollout.

Further, he emphasised that in order to grow at a higher rate, India will have to embrace both 5G and artificial intelligence (AI).

In light of the security concerns, he also noted that India’s digital footprint is one of its biggest strengths and in order to safeguard the digital sovereignty of the country, the government has constituted a committee to draft the Personal Data Protection (PDP) bill.
