According to Infonetics Research, in the first quarter of 2013, Cisco, Acme Packet and Sonus Networks faced stiff competition in the enterprise session border controllers (SBC) space.
Once at the top of the pecking order, these companies faced competition from smaller enterprise SBC vendors.
As per the research firm, these three companies were within 1 revenue share percentage point of each other in the period under consideration.
Meanwhile, the research firm added that enterprise SBC companies are expected to witness a 30 per cent increase in global revenues this year. Region-wise, the highest demand for enterprise SBCs was witnessed in North America. Infonetics Research expects SBC sessions to increase by 27 per cent year-over-year in 2013.
Enterprises with between 101-5,000 employees accounted for the largest segment of sessions in the first quarter of 2013, at 73 per cent of shipments.
In 2012, Cisco led the enterprise session border controllers market, followed by Oracle-owned Acme Packet. The enterprise SBC space grew by 9 per cent, owing to competitive pricing.
