According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship the satellite communication (satcom) is emerging as an important part of India’s ambitions to scale up quality internet access across the country. To this end, the minister asserted that for the digital economy and India’s growing clout in global technology landscape, satcom holds significant relevance.
As per Chandrasekhar, satcom is crucial for delivering quality internet to all citizens and enterprises of India. He also said that space and satcom sectors are going to offer interesting and critical use cases that will catalyse startups, and development of devices and electronics as India has emerged as the fastest-growing innovation ecosystem in the world, attracting high foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.
