Sasken Technologies Limited has announced the world’s first LTE-based satellite product, Mobile Satellite Equipment (MSE). This innovative solution facilitates mission-critical communications during natural disasters like tsunamis, as well as normal operations. It provides a wide spectrum of services, including emergency calls, voice, fax, messaging, data and additional functionalities.

Sasken has designed, developed and deployed the MSE hardware and software, revolutionising the satcom industry. The launch of LTE over MSE has introduced standard third generation partnership project (3GPP) services over satellite infrastructure, transforming the legacy satellite network infrastructure into a standard and interoperable telecom network.

A standout feature of the MSE system is the integration of a tracking antenna unit. With a modernised, resource-efficient and extensible platform, MSE provides long-term support for telecommunication services. This cost-effectiveness, combined with increased user capacity, presents satellite telecom operators with new opportunities for market growth. s
