Bharti Airtel has appointed Santanu Bhattacharya, a former National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) executive, as its chief data scientist to focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things (IoT), augmented reality and virtual reality. Bhattacharya will oversee the day-to-day operations of Bharti Airtel’s upcoming digital innovation laboratory in Bengaluru. In the past, Bhatta­­charya has worked with organisations such as Facebook, AOL and Delhivery.
