Sanjay Kapoor, chief executive officer, India and South Asia, Bharti Airtel, has put in his papers, say news reports. He will reportedly continue in this role until February 28, 2013 and will also retain his place on the boards of Indus Towers and Bharti Global.
Meanwhile, Gopal Vittal, currently group director (special projects) will reportedly take over as chief executive officer, India, Bharti Airtel, with effect from March 1, 2013.
In his new role, Vittal will be responsible for defining and delivering the company’s business strategy and providing overall leadership for its India operations.
