According to the Minister of State (MoS) for Telecommunications, the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT), Sanchar Saathi platform has helped trace over 2.02 million lost or stolen mobile phones to date.
As per the latest data on the portal, the government has successfully blocked 3.35 million mobile phones, while 0.46 million handsets have been returned to their rightful owners. The average recovery rate of lost mobile phones stands at 22.9 per cent.
Launched to empower mobile users, Sanchar Saathi allows citizens to report lost or stolen devices for blocking and recovery, lodge complaints against fraudulent calls, and flag unauthorised mobile connections issued in their name. The initiative is part of the centre’s broader effort to enhance digital security and curb telecom fraud in India.
