Samsung Electronics plans to expand its Galaxy Gear compatibility to six Samsung Galaxy smartphones through a software update. The schedule for software update will vary for each device.
Currently, the Galaxy Gear compatibility software is already available for the Galaxy S4 smartphone. Going forward, Galaxy Gear compatibility will be extended to the Galaxy S3, the Galaxy Note II, the Galaxy S4 mini, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy S4 devices by end-November.
The Galaxy Gear enables compatible Samsung handsets users to make or answer calls and view incoming messages at a glance without having to pick up their smartphone. For a closer look at more important messages, users can access instant connection from the Galaxy Gear to the phone through the ?Smart Relay? feature. ?Smart Relay? allows for seamless connection between the Galaxy Gear and Galaxy devices.
The Samsung Gear is priced at Rs 22,990, while the Galaxy Smartphones (Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 zoom, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3) are priced between Rs 23,500 to Rs 49,900.
Commenting on the software upgrade, Vineet Taneja, country head, Mobiles, Samsung Electronics, says, ?The Galaxy Gear is designed and optimised for use with other Galaxy devices to create a seamless experience for our users. Extending the Galaxy Gear compatibility to six Galaxy devices reflects our commitment to delivering more Samsung smartphone users with enhanced flexibility and freedom, thus enriching their mobile experience.?
