Samsung Electronics has bagged a $370 million contract from Indonesia’s Mobile 8 Telecom to supply a third-generation CDMA system. The contract is valid up to 2011. The upgraded CDMA standard will allow Mobile 8’s users to access more data services and upload videos and photos from their handsets to networks at a faster speed. It will also enhance Mobile 8’s coverage area and increase its network capacity by about 20 million subscribers by 2012. Samsung had previously also supplied equipment worth $120 million to Mobile 8 to improve its network.
