South Korea-based Samsung Electronics has appointed Lee Sang-chul as the head of strategic marketing for the mobile business. Sang-chul replaces Kim Seok-pil, who has stepped down from the said role. Prior to his appointment, Sang-chul was the head of the company’s Russian operations. He has also served as the company?s head of Latin American operations.

Under his current role, Sang-chul will be responsible for overseeing the launch of the new Galaxy S device. The smartphone’s success is critical for Samsung as the company has witnessed a decline of its sales in the past quarter. The company will launch its new Galaxy S smartphone the Mobile World Congress trade show on March 1, 2015.
