Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has expressed its views against the practice of RWAs of charging telecom operators for allowing their entry into housing complexes and colonies.
As per TRAI, existence of connectivity infrastructure should be kept as a pre-condition for granting completion certificates for such multi-story buildings.
At present unfettered access to buildings and complexes is given for providing electricity and water. TRAI is of the view that a similar treatment should be extended for communications infrastructure.
To this end, TRAI has said that is engaging with the Urban Development Ministry on the issue.
