The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) plans to ask global telecom gear suppliers to deposit only the relevant data recovery software modules to the authorities, according to reports.
The recovery software will be used by the DoT to retrieve any data lost in the event of a network security threat. Also, these vendors will not be required to put their software codes in the equivalent of a sealed envelope as a pre-condition to supply gear to Indian operators.
