The Central Information Commission (CIC) has ruled that consumers can approach the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) under the RTI Act, to seek records of actions taken by telecom operators to address their complaints. The move comes after a consumer approached TRAI to know the  status of his complaints filed with Vodafone India and the case was forwarded to CIC.

The Information Commissioner however added that inaction on the part of redressal of grievance should be brought only before the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.
