New technologies and innovations such as e-mobility, internet of things (IoT), 5G and satellite communications are driving markets, bringing about many new developments in the field of wireless communications, particularly RF components, RF subsystems and systems. To cater to the changing requirements, Rohde & Schwarz has launched the R&S BBA130 broadband amplifiers in the 80 MHz to 6 GHz range. These allow users to optimise the transmission characteristics according to the requirements of a specific application.

The new product enables users to adjust the operating class of the transistors between Class A and Class AB during operations. The tolerance against mismatch at the output can also be changed to provide more power. Moreover, users can use one amplifier to conduct a variety of tests during design and product validation.

According to the company, the R&S BBA130 broadband amplifiers have been designed for production and quality assurance, and to offer output powers ranging from 22 W to 4,200 W in the 80 MHz to 6 GHz frequency range. Further, their compact and modular design enables the amplifiers to be optimally scaled and configured. This modular design also provides a secure investment, with the option to add future power and frequency range upgrades.
