The centre has extended Research In Motion (RIM)?s deadline until December to resolve the issue centred around its BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES).

Meanwhile, RIM has reportedly informed the technical committee, comprising of officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the intelligence bureau and the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) that difficulties lie in providing access to its corporate e-mail services, since new codes are developed by the user everyday and keeping tabs on these codes is cumbersome. The vendor itself does not possess the master key, as it is created by the customers themselves.

Meanwhile, Indian technical groups are also examining the potential of setting up servers in India, depending on what advantages this may provide.
