Reliance Communications has partnered with WhatsApp in India to introduce the WhatsApp prepaid plan for its GSM subscribers and the My College Plan for students.
With the WhatsApp plan, GSM subscribers will have unlimited access to WhatsApp and Facebook on Reliance’s network for Rs 16. The plan is valid for 30 days.
Under the plan, all calls and SMSs within the student’s specified group are priced at Re 0.5. Students can also broadcast campus-related information through a SMS to the entire college group by texting the message to 51112. The SMS is priced at Rs 3.
Commenting on the launch of the two offers, Sanjay Behl, group head, brand and marketing, Reliance Communications Limited, says, “We are confident that the WhatsApp plan and the My College Plan, with unlimited usage of WhatsApp is set to provide a compelling new experience with incredible affordability to smartphone users across the country on our network along with free Facebook surfing as an introductory offer for a limited period. We are hoping this offer to trigger a significant shift of youth customers using smartphones to our superior network.”
