Reliance Jio has announced that it has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. This will enable the telco to launch 5G services in India using 100 per cent home grown technologies and solutions. This announcement was made at the 43rd AGM of Reliance Industries.
The company has said that its made-in-India 5G solution will be ready for trials as soon as 5G spectrum is available and will be ready for field deployment next year.
Further, this indigenously developed 5G solution will also enable the telco to easily upgrade its 4G network to 5G.
Sharing details of the newly launched 5G solution, Mukesh Ambani, CMD, Reliance Industries, said, “Once Jio’s 5G solution is proven at India-scale, Jio Platforms would be well positioned to be an exporter of 5G solutions to other telecom operators globally, as a complete managed service.”
Jio Platforms has also entered into a commercial agreement with Google to jointly develop an entry level affordable smartphone with optimisations to the Android operating system and the Play Store. Together we are excited to rethink, from the ground up, how millions of users in India can become owners of smartphones. This effort will unlock new opportunities, further power the vibrant ecosystem of applications and push innovation to drive growth for the new Indian economy.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has also launched JioGlass, a new mixed reality headset, which would enable audio and holographic video calling for the post-Covid-19 world.
The company has said that JioGlass is a cutting-edge technology solution that offers users a truly meaningful immersive experience.
