Reliance Jio has reportedly conducted trials for immersive high-definition (HD) virtual reality (VR) meeting using its homegrown 5G NR radio and 5G core network (5GCN). The trial also leveraged both enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and 5G’s low-latency capabilities.
In its 5G trial, Jio demonstrated HD multi-party VR video calling with participants physically wearing the VR headsets while others joined using the cloud.
The trial involved collaborative screen sharing and presentations across VR participants and white boarding/sketching using VR control along with live sharing. Cloud participants also performed laptop screen share with real-time video playback.
