According to West Bengal’s chief minister, Reliance Jio will be investing over Rs 10 billion in establishing a cable landing station in the port town of Digha.

This would increase the state’s sub-sea broadband connectivity links with European and Asian countries and also help attract tech investments into the state.

The chief minister added that Jio had put in a bid to build the landing station and the state government has allotted them the land.

Besides, the state government has also decided to build a deep-sea port in East Midnapore district, the same district where the cable landing station would be built.
