As per industry sources, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited has paid adjusted gross revenue (AGR) related dues of Rs 1.77 billion to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), becoming the only telecom operator to meet the Supreme Court’s deadline of January 23, 2020.

As per market estimates, dues paid by Reliance Jio amount to only a fraction of  what its competitors, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, have to pay.

Vodafone Idea, Bharti Telecom and Tata Teleservices Limited have to pay an aggregate of Rs 1.02 trillion in AGR-related dues.

On their part, the two incumbent operators have requested DoT to await Supreme Court’s (SC) decision on the AGR modification pleas submitted by them.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had agreed to hear the modification applications filed by Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) seeking an extension of the January 23, 2020 deadline for payment of AGR dues.
